Pump House Gallery is a dedicated public contemporary visual arts space on the lakeside in Battersea Park, South London. It plays a leading role in the cultural life of Wandsworth and is the highest profile public visual arts space in the borough, attracting over 30,000 visitors. In the past few years the gallery has been recognised, both nationally and increasingy internationally, as a centre of excellence in the provision of contemporary visual art as well as providing an ambitious and innovative integrated education and outreach programme.
The gallery incorporates four floors of exhibition space with stunning views overlooking the 200-acre park and the unusual architecture of the building makes it a unique, ‘one of a kind’ exhibition space in London, if not in the UK.
The current exhibition programme integrates exhibitions of work by emerging artists, projects created locally through educational initiatives, as well as providing more established practitioners with the opportunity to develop new ideas and directions in their practice within a small-scale and supportive organisation. The programme aims to include a full range of visual arts media and different curatorial approaches to engage a large and diverse audience in the contemporary visual arts.
