Chaired by Roger Hargreaves (Editor of the forthcoming Journal of Photography and Culture), this special event is organised in collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery to coincide with Pump House Gallery’s current showing of new work by Dutch photographer Hellen van Meene. Speakers, Richard West (editor of Source magazine), Melanie Manchot (artist), Jennie Ricketts (formerly Picture Editor, Observer Magazine) and Helen James (NPG), will discuss the ethical and legal issues that can arise from photographing people for artistic purposes with or without their consent. Suitable for anyone interested in contemporary photography, photographing young people, issues around consent, artistic freedom, image ownership and the law, we hope you will join us.
