Internationally acclaimed writer and activist Ken Saro-Wiwa and eight of his colleagues were judicially executed by the Nigerian state in November 1995 for campaigning against the environmental and social devastation being caused by the activities of multinational oil companies in the Niger Delta region, Nigeria.

The Bus forms part of Remember Saro-Wiwa A Living Memorial, an initiative led by the interdisciplinary organisation PLATFORM, which takes the form of an enormous silver steel Nigerian bus inscribed with the words of Ken Saro-Wiwa. It aims to generate debate about issues of climate change and oil production, social justice and Britain's impact on the rest of the world.
